What we do
Medicines Development for Global Health Inc. (MDGH Inc) develops medicines for neglected diseases that disproportionately affect people living in low- and middle-income countries. It is an affiliate of Medicines Development for Global Health (MDGH Australia), an independent biopharmaceutical company incorporated in Australia (Australian Company Number 116 977 523) and registered as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission.
Over 1 billion people suffer from neglected diseases worldwide. More than 80% of the world’s population live in low- and middle-income countries where innovative medicines are rarely available. The majority of new medicines are developed for diseases that are prevalent in high-income countries, where the potential commercial returns on an approved medicine offset the high cost and risk of research and development.
MDGH Australia has been working to address these urgent needs globally for several years, with its principal activities qualifying it in Australia as a “health promotion charity” and other activities qualifying it in Australia as a “health advancement charity.” MDGH Inc is formed to do similar work and accomplish similar objectives in the United States in coordination with MDGH Australia and its affiliated charitable entities.
Medicines Development for Global Health Inc. was incorporated on 6 July 2021 as a non-profit corporation. It is in the process of applying for registration as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) public charity.
